Testing, testing...

Testing is continuing on the eventual members module. It's a lot of work, and not a lot has gone right so far. This should not be a surprise to anyone.

The assistance of anyone who has the competence to help me get everything working right would be most appreciated, but the prevailing attitude seems to be "We'll wait and see what you come up with." This is not helping. I am plowing on regardless of your lack of assistance. That's the way it goes.



I am teetering on the brink of allowing the forums to be independent of membership. The board is there and it works, but interfacing it with the member module may be more trouble than it's worth. This assumes, of course, that I can actually do it. Not knowing the coding for the forums very well, it may be that I will have no choice but to run the forums separate from the membership. Time will tell.

As it warms up and more of you begin taking to sea, please remember that when skill and luck fail, safety is your only hope. Make sure that your vessel has personal floatation devices for all aboard, that lights work, and that all other necessary safety equipment is aboard and readily accessible. The most valuable members and potential members of the Acme Yacht Club are the living ones. Please take care of yourself, since you can't expect anyone else to do it for you, or, at least, not as well as you can.



Yesterday, I celebrated my birthday. I am now 42. A co-worker of mine gave me a set of Lego blocks as a birthday present. You may be aware that Legos are usually a children's toy. Maybe she thought I wouldn't hurt myself with them. That was probably it.

See you next month, and hopefully I will have good news. Just don't count on it.
