3rd Friday the 13th Status Report
Commodore B. J. Turk, 13 May 2005
Same thing, different month.
Nothing new on the club site, except that our boat vendor has quit selling Snarks. As it stands now, there is really nothing that is fully functional on the club site except for the process through which I post these messages more or less every month. I intend to find another vendor through which we can sell Snarks, but there don't seem to be too many of them out there.
And I can't seem to resolve differences in passwords to get into the PayPal sandbox to continue testing IPN in the member module and stores, so that is holding up a lot of things. Just when I thought I had things going the right direction, too...
Now that the sailing season is in full swing, I hope that all of you will be careful out there. One of the most important things that you should remember is to not do anything that you only "think" you know. People get themselves into lots of trouble, and lots of danger, by telling themselves "I think I know what I'm doing." Don't fool yourself into a false sense of security.
It's been said that "I think this will work" is among those statements that fall into the "famous last words" category. If you don't KNOW, then don't try to DO. Get help or good advice from a reliable source first. In sailing, even on a local or urban lake, there is more than enough danger. Respect the danger, and respect yourself, by not taking unecessary chances.
See you next month!
