Welcome to the Acme Yacht Club!
Those who would be
members of a yacht club, but can't afford the megabuck initiation fees, hefty
assessments, and painfully high monthly dues, are welcome here. If others have
looked down upon your sailing (in)ability, or ridiculed your accidents at sea, you
have found a home, for we are well and truly sailors of misfortune.
What is a sailor of misfortune? A sailor of misfortune is a soul who
has experienced one or more cruel twists of fate while at sea, regardless of the
size of the body of water or of the vessel. Such events may be as minor as
running out of gas, or as major as a loss of life. If anything like this has
ever happened to you or has touched your life through a family member, your
potential embarrassment among the snooty yacht club elite is no worry here.
We are a special band, not for our accomplishments at sea, but for our lack of
them. There is no shame in being unlucky. We sail the seas we're given, and
we are proud to be sailors of misfortune!
In the coming days, weeks and months, the Acme Yacht Club will be built with the support and
participation of its loyal members. There are no assessments, and the initiation fees
and dues are a pittance. This is your chance to be a member of a yacht club
where you truly belong, which won't put you in the poorhouse, and where you don't
have to beg to get in. Bookmark this page and check back often as we grow into the
premier online yacht club in the world. Rest assured that we have no intention of
being only online.
